FaulknerBrowns was retained by Bristol Development Corporation for four years to advise on urban design issues and to develop a masterplan for a sensitive 80-acre site adjacent to Temple Meads railway station in Bristol. Following a Planning and CPO Enquiry, we examined numerous market responsive development strategies for the comprehensive regeneration of this waterside site. We also prepared land disposal strategies, planning and development briefs, and detailed marketing 'visualisations'.
The site is within ten minutes' walk of the city centre and had the potential to be a significant gateway to the city. Analysis identified the site's existing characteristics which were exploited to bring renewed vigour into the area. The existing station acted as a new gateway not only to the city, but also to a proposed cultural quarter.
