In the early 1990's the British Standards Institute purchased a dilapidated 1960's office tower in Chiswick which had been previously occupied by IBM. The building is located over Gunnersbury Tube and Rail Station and is one of the key reasons why BSI purchased the building.
FaulknerBrowns commission was to transform both the external appearance of the building and the internal working environment to create a modern flexible workplace.
The workplace is naturally ventilated - even on the 17th floor - personally operable fan lights are baffled by rainscreen louvres. A micro switch turns off the fan coil heater unit as the window is opened. The final building solution appears as a new office building helping to create a sustainable and flexible internal working environment for BSI's staff.
