Lynemouth Primary School forms part of the Northumberland Church of England Academy group of schools, an iniative which reorganises education in Northumberland from a three tier to a two tier system, and seeks to provide community facilities within outlying areas.
A small primary school for 150 children, the design articulates learning and community blocks in render and brick respectively. The learning block provides pairs of class bases with shared learning, ancillary, and external covered spaces within a secure safe environment.
The community block forms the main entrance and provides learning, dining and hall functions in a large flexible open space with functions delineated by changes in material and ceiling height. Out of hours the space provides a significant community resource for Lynemouth.
